How are you incorporating your environmental projects into your school's curriculum?:
We incorporate environmental projects into the curriculum primarily through vocational agriculture classes and FFA, science classes, and advanced Spanish classes. We have Environmental Science as a class that is particularly active with the PR work for school awareness. Posters, research, and ad campaigns are featured on our school news network. Physics also reuses "junk" from home and collected over the years in the classroom to produce a "Rube Goldberg" machine." Physical science classes also participate in these projects. Advanced Spanish classes have a unit on environmental awareness in the Spanish language.
In addition to the class work mentioned above, Spanish Club and Key Club are both highly active in environmental initiatives. Spanish Club and FFA are in the third year of a cooperative effort to recycle all paper in the building. Key Club initiated the plastics and cans recycling project this fall. Our most recent accomplishments include placement of recycling containers at home football games. We plan to continue this project at basketball games. Key Club has also "plastered" the building with green signs encouraging recycling. This year's Key Club t-shirt reflects the Green Team's commitment.
