A representative from the local recycling center visits my classroom each nine weeks. We get copies of the Kansas Kids Can newspaper. My 4th graders weekly pick up and sort all the recycle materials from the elementary and take it to the maintenance barn where it is put in gaylords or trash carts. Later it is hauled to the local recycling center. The 4th graders pick up and sort newspapers, magazines/catalogs, white paper, mixed paper, cardboard, chipboard, glass, milk jugs, water bottles, pop cans, steel cans, colored plastics, mixed plastics, telephone books, plastic bags, etc.
