Every classroom, Early Childhood through Fourth Grade, has a recycling box for paper. Every Friday the Edith Scheuerman Recycling Team (comprised of 14 students proudly wearing Recycling Team vests made by our senior volunteers) gathers the recycling and sorts the paper into large recycling bins. On Thursdays the City of Garden City Recycling workers come and pick up our sorted paper. The ES Recycling Team also spearheads aluminum recycling for the students, staff and parents. Parents drop bags of aluminum cans at our curb and a staff member takes the cans to be recycled about once a month. The money raised through recycling aluminum is used by staff members for school or playground improvement projects.
