The Cheney school district is incorporatiing composting into the daily routine of our students by recycling the organic waste from lunch. That waste will be placed into composters with the addition of shredded paper waste and straw to create fresh organic fertilizer. Within 6-8 weeks the students will be able to use the fresh compost in the district's landscaping and throughout the community. The students will also be involved in a smaller scale composting project in certain classrooms where they will test different hypothesis on the composting rate of different types of material.
