Kansas Green Schools of Excellence
Kansas Green Schools (KGS) of Excellence are schools who have worked collaboratively throughout the school year to explore, investigate, learn about and take action to green the school while integrating environmental education. US Department of Education Green Ribbon Schools
Launched in 2011, the US Department of Education is recognizing schools that exemplify the three pillars of Green Ribbons Schools, which include: Environmental Impact and Energy Efficiency, Healthy School Environmentals and Environmental and Sustainability Education. Kansas Green School of the Year
This annual award recognizes Kansas public and private schools that have demonstrated innovation, leadership, whole school involvement, and an integrated, holistic, sustainable approach to implementing environmental projects with a strong environmental education component into their schools. Individual schools nominated for this award must be members of the Kansas Green Schools Network (registration is free and can be attained at www.kansasgreenschools.org).
